Vivian Cook's paintings have been described as a remarkable voyage into the stimulating and exciting beauty of nature. Rich colors, interpretive values, and magical qualities conveys a feeling of joy and happiness to the observer.

Working in the vibrant medium of oils, Vivian Cook created a world of gentility and quietude. Her brush and palette knife fashioned engaging works of fragile beauty. Her colors glow with an inner fire in concert with her deft compositions and interpretations.

In portraiture, she rendered powerful studies of character, personality and inner depth.

A genuine western painter, Cook was born and educated in California, studing with well-known artists Fred Reichman and Thomas Leighton. She painted since childhood and was still painting at age 90 when she succumbed to pneumonia. She was a member of the Society of Western Artists and exhibited at the de Young Museum, Academic Artist Exhibition in Springfield, Crocker Galleries in Sacramento, Rosicrucian Gallery in San Jose and many other galleries.

Vivian Cook's daughter, Susan Titus, is following in her mother's inspiring path. A watercolorist, Titus demonstrates a similar passion for the beauty found in nature.
